Fonejacker

This was one of the few tv programs I liked when I arrived in UK (of course, just after BBC News ;-) ): some of the accents that the Fonejacker does were (and some still are) quite difficult, but… it’s super funny anyway.

F**k off!!!

Lars and the Real Girl

Lars and The Real Girl
Yesterday, waiting for Morfeus (the God, not the Blue-Pill-Red-Pill Freak) to catch me and bring me to sleep. I had this movie in my beloved iPhone, “Lars and the Real Girl“.

It’s pure gold. A movie about a guy, Lars (Ryan Gosling), who has a very strange mental disease, that needs a Girlfriend but is unable to catch-and-kiss the classical Next-Door-Girl (Kelli Garner) that loves him… also if she is aware of his sickness.

More info and the full plot is on Wikipedia (for whom likes spoilering ;) ).

What I strongly suggest to follow is the recitation of what is not said: eyes, movements, expressions, breaths too. Everything is done in a perfect harmony. The perception is of a classical American town that is completely disconnected from the outside world, and mainly because of this is able to “help” Lars.

Best character? Dr. Dagmar (Patricia Clarkson). Her recitation is pure gold, a perfect not-yet-so-old woman who lost her husband and… now is just… lonely.
During an “interview” with Lars she speaks about her self:

[...]
Sometimes I get so lonely I forget what day it is, and how to spell my name.
[...]

I strongly suggest to give a try to this movie. It’s slow and “delicate”: give it the time to catch your interest, and pay attention to every whispering (in there is the pure gold of this movie).

Guinness Domino ads

After a lot of unmotivated comments (for the quality of the Movie itself) about my post about Domino Harvey, I finally have another Domino to talk about.

This is an ads going on in the UK TV. It’s from Guinness, one of the most strong-tasty (I say “not very much good tasty”), beer that you can find in any pub here.
But the advert is very very good ;)

585 consecutive minutes among Heroes

Update 2007-10-02:
I just discovered that NBC has released, during all the Heroes series, graphic novels that “complete” the Heroes story. More details here.

Good stuff NBC!!!

WOW. I’m addicted. Another time.

On June 2007 my friend Nemo wrote a post about his new addiction, Heroes, a brand new american TV Serial:

Heroes is an American science fiction drama television series, created by Tim Kring, which premiered on NBC on September 25, 2006. The show tells the story of several people who “thought they were like everyone else… until they realized they have incredible abilities” such as telepathy, time travel, flight and spontaneous regeneration. These people soon realize they have a role in preventing a catastrophe and saving mankind. The series emulates the writing style of American comic books with short, multi-episode story arcs that build upon a larger, more encompassing arc. Kring said “we have talked about where the show goes up to five seasons.”

Hayden Panettiere - The Cheerleader to Save...
Hayden Panettiere – The Cheerleader to Save… to Save the World

I was curious, but at that time I found no time to download see the series. But, 2 weeks ago, I found a torrent with all the First Season.

Here is my progression (on all the 23 episodes):

  • Sunday 23th of Septeber 2007: 5 episodes – Level of Addiction: High
  • Wednesday 26th of September 2007: 1 episode – Level of Addiction: High
  • Friday 28th of September 2007: 4 episodes – Level of Addiction: Very High
  • Saturday 29th of September 2007 (yesterday): 13 (!!!) episodes – Level of Addiction: Headache

Now? Now I have ready in my external hard drive the first episode of the Second Season. But… I have also the first episode of House 4x and Grey’s Anatomy 4x.

Help me, pleeeeez!!! :D

P.S. Every episode is 45 min. long.
P.P.S. Hayden Panettiere, the Cheerleader is an Celestial Creature 8O !
P.P.P.S. Thanks to Nemo, Alhandra, Serage and Luca, my pushers.

Stephen Fry has opened a Blog

From Wikipedia:

Stephen John Fry (born 24 August 1957) is an English comedian, writer, actor, novelist, filmmaker and television personality. The former comedy collaborator of Hugh Laurie, he is also the host of the television panel game QI.

I like this man. I discovered him thanks to Laurie, and reading and watching him I discovered that he is great on his own.

Fry and FryPhone
Fry and his FryPhone (is not my idea: is him)

And now he has a blog. Just 2 post, but both interesting a sharper than you can expect from a “Theater/Letterature Man”. Particularly, I suggest the first one about SmartPhones, iPhone and (hypothetical) iPhone-Killers: Devices and Desires.

Best Wishes for Your new “experiment”, Mr. Fry. ;)

P.S. If you want to understand how good is this man as actor, watch “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” (all the 4 seasons): I bought all the DVDs. As soon as I finish my third english-written book, Mortal Fear by Greg Iles, I’ll buy (or I’ll borrow from the Symbian Library) The Liar by Fry: then, I’ll “evaluate” him also as writer.
