Taipei 101: The tallest building in the world since 2004
This is my 101 days. Writing a post on the 100 (50 * 2) was just too obvious
A lot of things are changed, and a lot are still changing. My life is stable like an Elephant on the point of a needle.
The Big City has giving a lot to my “maturation process” as Software Engineer, but it’s not just gold because it sparkle, is it? But it worth it. We come out of University thinking “we deserve the best”, but we don’t. At least, we don’t yet. I’m figuring out, every day much more clearly, that University is just a gym, and whatever we did there, it is just not enough for the business world.
But this is a good thing, at the end of the day. I’m sure it should be nice to feel a genius, but is it “safe”, is it “productive” for a young guy like me to have “everything and straightaway”? Not at all. Am a Spartan. I was born to fight. And I will.
Why not a post celebrating the “beauty” of Symbian? Because I’m not a business Man. I’m not The Suit-Guy. I’m not that kind of person.
Life goes on.

Thanks God, now I can iSync!!!
As someone probably remember, I switched from an Nokia E70 to a Sony Ericsson W950i.
In the beginning, it was not possible to synchronize my iBook with my new smarth-phone because of a “strange” implementation of the SyncML protocol on Sony Ericsson/UIQ 3.0 phones.
A lot of people has tried to figure out how to do it (Google for it), failing! But now Sony_Ericsson has finally released the relative plugins:
Enjoy!
Update 15th August 2007: BTW, the plugins (I tested on only the one for W950i) doesn’t synchronize Tasks (Todos). I really don’t know why (

). But it’s already a good lip ahead.

When I began this new experience, during the BootCamp, a Teacher/Employee of Symbian, L.Simpson (yep, “Simpson”
) said:
Wellcome to the Big City!!!
He was referring to the amount of code Symbian OS is made of. But I think it can be applied to everything here. The feeling of being part of something big.
It is Frightful… but Fascinating and Stimulanting too.
Actually, I’m (and I’ll be for a lot) “no one” here… but I see a lot of young guys like me doing important things. And this is the most stimulating thing: I Could!
P.S.: 50 is the effective number of working days, so I excluded weekends and the BootCamp. I joined Symbian on the 16th of April!

Hi Guys.
I’m part of a very little Gooooogle Group (only 5 members) discussing about an interesting project, PySync.
I’ll not go in details (everything is in the “3″ discussions inside the group), but some interesting ideas are “popping-out”.
Share if you have something to.

Edit: Added a link to the Google Group of the project of Mal about the sync-stuff. It’s name is PySync.
Yesterday I went with a collegue (thank you Serage, particularly for the pictures
) to this event that the Google’s London Office sort twice (or more?) a year. Google London Open Source Jam.
I went for one main reason and other two minors (and… I didn’t know that the most important was another one
):
- The Topic
- To take a look to the Google Office in London (very very close to Victoria Station)
- Free Food (very nice pizza
)
(What’s the “main one” is up to you…
).
The Topic
This time, our topic of interest is Mobile.
- Linux on phones
- JavaME vs JavaSE vs .NET CF vs Native
- Browser technologies: AJAX and Flash
- Building native apps that port to multiple architectures
- Open platforms (e.g. OpenMoko)
- Cross platform testing
- Making the most of mobile hardware (camera, voice, bluetooth, GPS, etc)
- Phone bling

).
